Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker said on Monday Egypt will implement a plan with investments exceeding EGP 75 billion to improve electric grids nationwide in 2020.
In statements to Nile TV channel on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh, Shaker pointed to an annual programme at the Electricity Ministry to train African engineers, saying that more than 8,000 engineers have been trained so far.
The minister affirmed that Egypt has electricity linkages with Jordan, Libya, and Sudan, adding that the country probes exchanging electric power with Saudi Arabia at a capacity of around 3,000 megawatts.
