Cohen said that Egypt is an important partner to the US in the region, adding that his country is eager to maintain economic ties with Egypt as a robust US economic ally, in light of Egypt's achievements Egypt with its economic reform programme.
El-Mashat said Egypt-US economic partnership will be strategic in the coming phase for Egypt to achieve its sustainable development objectives.
Sherry Carlin, the USAID mission director in Egypt, said the USAID is honoured with the partnership with Egypt in a number of projects, and is looking forward to a strong economic partnership.
The twos sides discussed the economic strategy between the two countries, touching upon maintaining cooperation through the American-Egyptian Business Fund which invests approximately $300 million, and through the International Development Corporation that US President Trump decided to establish to replace the US private Investment Corporation.
The meeting tackled furthering cooperation between Egypt and the USAID that introduced a total of $30 billion since the beginning of cooperation between the two countries.
They also discussed cooperation through Prosperity for Africa Initiative that aims to boost links between entrepreneurs and investors in the US and North Africa for the sake of enhancing trade and investment through boosting infrastructure and regional integration in the continent.
