Market Update: Egypt stocks take 1.9 pct tumble early Sunday

Ahram Online, Sunday 18 Mar 2012

Egyptian stocks are starting the week firmly in the red, the benchmark EGX30 trading down 1.94 per cent at 5,069.1 points just over 90 minutes into Sunday's session.

The broader EGX70 has fallen 1.7 per cent. Of around 130 traded stocks, just 20 are seeing gains. Turnover is around LE86 million and clustered around telecoms stock.

It's the first loss in three sessions for Egypt's troubled stock exchange, which slipped over 5 per cent early last week before seeing a modest rebound on Wednesday and Thursday.
