The UK-based Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce (EBCC) has launched the online B2B platform Trade Accelerator, which aims to bring the professional community of both countries together in one digital space to make it easier for companies in the UK and Egypt to access curated information and find trustworthy trading partners.
Trade Accelerator is a professional social media platform that allows direct interactions between all members via private messaging, wall posts, viewing of other member profiles and the sharing of relevant publications. The integration with other platforms means that members can share posts across platforms including embedding Twitter posts and uploading YouTube videos, the Chamber said in a statement.
Chairman of the EBCC Ian Gray said that the Trade Accelerator aims to support stronger trade relationships between the two countries by growing and connecting businesses in an even more efficient manner.
“There is an increasing need, highlighted by the coronavirus outbreak, to provide members of the chamber with the online tools of conducting business. Aside from access to vital market insight, business and investment opportunities, networking is key for building successful partnerships. The new platform looks to address those three essential requirements,” according to Gray.
In a statement sent to Ahram Online, the Chamber said that the Trade Accelerator offers a definitive list of market opportunities from a wide array of official sources allowing members of the platform from the private sector to upload their own opportunities as well as respond to those published by others. This facilitates direct trade connections between buyers, sellers and investors from both markets.
Moreover, the platform’s sector-specific area enables members to post questions, share reports and market information as well as engage in sector-specific conversations, and it also has a members’ directory with a powerful search feature, giving access to a large network of potential customers and making it easy to find the right partners across borders.
The Accelerator is supported by the Chamber’s partners at the Egyptian Businessmen's Association (EBA) and the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB).
Egypt recorded $69.9 billion in trade exchange with other countries across the world during the first nine months of fiscal year 2019/20, according to a report by the Central Bank of Egypt.
The UK came in fifth place, with a total of $3.5 billion; $2.12 billion in imports and $1.4 billion in exports, according to the report.
