Amazon launched on Monday the Amazon Payment Services, a payment-processing service in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The move aims at providing businesses with affordable, user-friendly, and trusted online payment experiences using global and local payment methods, said Amazon.

“Established in 2013 as one of the first Fintech companies in the region, PAYFORT has gained a deep understanding of businesses' needs across the region. In 2017, Amazon acquired PAYFORT as part of the Souq Group acquisition. Since then, the focus has been on integrating PAYFORT and Amazon offerings to provide businesses with such services,” said Amazon in a statement shared with Ahram Online.

Large-scale and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can benefit from the new Amazon payment services, according to the statement.

“We understand the challenges of establishing an online business, so with this new launch, we have simplified the process of setting up merchant accounts to allow businesses to quickly begin accepting payments online, regardless of their size or the nature of their business. Amazon payment services mechanisms include simple-to-understand descriptions of services and their impact on a business, demonstrations of the end-customer experience, in addition to the ability to provide feedback proactively, alongside full secure transparency into pricing”, stated managing director of Amazon payment services, Omar Soudodi.

The new service will also allow businesses to build their own dashboard by merging their data from different sources to get detailed reports with actionable insights and real-time monitoring of their payment activities, said Soudodi.
