The sum has contributed to implementing Egypt’s sustainable development strategy under Egypt’s Vision 2030, she added during her participation in a seminar organised by the French Chamber of Commerce (CCI) in Egypt.
During the event, marking 30 years of CCI work in Egypt, Al-Mashat reviewed Egypt’s efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in the green transformation field.
In this regard, Egypt’s portfolio, through the international cooperation ministry, comprises 372 projects in the public and private sectors with a total value of $26.5 billion, she noted.
The infrastructure sector (SDG 3) has received the lion's share of these finance with about $5.9 billion, or 22.3 percent of the total portfolio. The clean water and sanitation sector (SDG 6) came next with total finances worth $5.3 billion, or 20.3 percent of the total portfolio.
The affordable and clean energy sector came in third with finances valued at $4.6 billion, constituting 17.5 percent of the total portfolio, according to Al-Mashat.
Last week, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi paid a two-day visit to France to attend the One Ocean Summit and meet French President Emmanuel Macron.
El-Sisi told Macron that Egypt attaches particular importance to cooperation with France, especially in transferring French technology and expertise to Egypt. Egypt is keen to consult with France on issues of security and stability in the East Mediterranean and Africa, El-Sisi added.
France is Egypt’s eighth largest source of foreign direct investments (FDIs) and aspires to upgrade Egypt to the third rank in terms of receiving FDIs and increasing trade and economic and strategic partnership with Egypt, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire stated during his visit to Egypt in June 2021.
