The Central Bank of Egypt’s FinTech Egypt initiative launched on Wednesday the country’s first digital academy to empower employees with the right skills in the banking, financial, and fintech sectors.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) launched the academy to become a globally recognised fintech hub, home to next generation financial services, talent and innovative development, and in alignment with Egypt's 2030 vision.

The academy will provide internationally accredited training programmes, virtually and physically, with its first pilot  Innovator Programme.

The programme will be launched in the first quarter of 2023 in collaboration with the Egyptian Banking Institute and the Centre for Finance, Technology, and Entrepreneurship.

The Innovator Programme is a six-month intensive programme designed to empower trainees through learning from highly qualified experts about artificial intelligence in finance, open banking, and digital payments, said the CBE.

The programme will include online workshops presented by high-profile academics and leading fintech experts.

This will be followed by another series of training programmes over the next few months, covering different topics in fintech.

During the past few years, the CBE launched several initiatives to raise digital financial literacy, such as FinYology in February 2020.

FinYology was launched in cooperation with the Egyptian Banking Institute, 25 public and private universities, banks, and fintech startups.
