Egypt supports US nominee for World Bank Group president
Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat has expressed Egypt's support for the candidacy of Ajay Banga, the US' nominee to lead the World Bank Group (WBG), during a virtual call on Wednesday.

The two sides discussed the WBG's evolution and vision, as well as the challenges faced by developing and emerging economies.
On 23 February, US President Joe Biden announced Banga as the nominee for president of the WBG, succeeding the current president, David Malpass, who has announced his intention to leave the office by the end of June
Banga has a global reputation for his extensive experience in technology, data, financial services, and innovation. He served as Mastercard's president and CEO for 11 years and later became the company's executive chairman.
