New plastic EGP 20 notes. LinkedIn.
Egypt's new polymer banknote, after the EGP 10 note issued in July 2022, is the country's second currency of this type.
The central bank has not yet announced when the new currency will be available in the market.
The CBE's clean cash policy aims to improve the quality of banknotes in the market and reduce the cost of printing older ones, and issuing plastic banknotes is part of this policy, as stated by the CBE last year.
In 2022, the EGP 20 note ranked fourth among the most circulated currencies, following the EGP 200, EGP 100, and EGP 50 notes, according to the central bank's data.
