According to the presidency, the new complex will complement the existing production of phosphate and composite fertilizers in the area.
President El-Sisi inaugurated in August 2019 the new Phosphatic and Compound Fertilizers Complex and in March 2023 the Nitrogenous Fertilizer Complex.
During the meeting, El-Sisi commended the ongoing cooperation with the two companies, in light of Egypt's friendly relations with both China and Italy.
He directed the government to continue its efforts to localize fertilizer production, as it is one of the most important inputs for agricultural production, which affects food security.
He emphasized that these efforts should focus on the transfer of knowledge, technology, and expertise, building on the advanced productive and operational capacities of major foreign companies worldwide.
The meeting was held in the presence of Chairman of the Financial Affairs Authority of the Armed Forces General Ahmed El-Shazly, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization of the Armed Forces Major General Walid Abdel-Maged, Chairman of the Board of Directors of El-Nasr Company For Intermediate Chemicals Major General Ihab Abdel Samie, and Chairman and Managing Director of Petrojet Waleed Lotfy Hamed.
