Egypt fruits & vegetables exports up 16% in 1st 7 months of 2023: Agriculture ministry

Egypt's fruit and vegetable exports reached $2.6 billion during the first seven months of 2023, Ministry of Agriculture Spokesperson Mohamed El-Qersh stated on Saturday.

In a phone call to the TV program Ala Masouliyati on Sada El-Balad TV, El-Qersh added that the volume of vegetables and fresh fruits exported surged to 5.1 million tons from January until July of this, up from 4.4 million tons in the same period in 2022, the spokesperson revealed.

Egypt is currently producing 23 million tons of vegetables, which are being exported to more than 160 countries, he said.

In 2022, agricultural exports hit a record 6.5 million tons - with a total value of $3.3 billion.
