The food industry sector accounts for a major share of the country’s overall exports, Samir stressed to representatives of food industry companies during a roundtable held earlier today in Cairo.
The seven-month increase was driven by a 13 percent rise in the country’s food exports to Arab nations, with an overall value of $1.361 million, showed the latest data released by the Export Council for Food Industries (ECFI).
The European Union came in the second spot with a growth rate of 8 percent ($513 million), followed by non-Arab African nations with a 7 percent increase ($190 million), according to the ECFI.
Flour, sugar, and strawberry topped the list of most exported commodities, with values of $260 million, $252 million, and $ 229 million respectively, noted the ECFI.
Fruit and vegetable exports also recorded $ 2.6 billion during the same period as per government officials.
Egypt's trade balance deficit fell from January to July by 20.8 percent reaching $17.84 billion compared to $22.52 billion in the same period in 2022, reported the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
