Food Africa, Pacprocess exhibitions 2023 kick off in Egypt

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi opened the Food Africa 2023 and Pacprocess exhibitions, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The events are held at Egypt International Exhibitions Centre in Cairo between 12 and 14 December with exhibitions from more than 900 companies representing 32 countries.

The Food Africa exhibition is held under the patronage of the trade ministry in collaboration with strategic partners, on top of which are the Food Export Council, the Agricultural Export Council, and the Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper, Books, and Artistic Works, among other entities, said Samir.

The African market is a strategic priority to Egypt’s trade goal of increasing exports to $100 billion annually, the minister added.

He also stated that Egypt’s food, agriculture, and packaging exports reached $8.761 billion in 2022, accounting for 16.81 percent of the country’s total exports that year.

Egypt’s exports increased by 19.4 percent in 2022 reaching $52.1 billion, up from $43.6 billion in 2021, according to CAPMAS, the official statistics authority.
