Egypt’s exports drop 22% YoY in nine months

Egypt’s exports dropped 22 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $30.8 billion during the first nine months of 2023, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.

Meanwhile, imports declined by 21 percent YoY to $58.5 billion from January to the end of September.

Thus, the Egyptian trade deficit declined by around 20 percent YoY to $27.7 billion in the January-September period.

Egypt’s exports increased by 19.4 percent in 2022 to reach $52.1 billion, up from $43.6 billion in 2021, as shown in previous data by CAPMAS.
