Egyptian exports have been a focal point throughout 2023, especially after the announcement of the new government's programme, which included raising exports to $130 billion until FY2026/2027.

According to data from Trade Map, the highest of Egypt’s exports to Arab countries was to Saudi Arabia at a value of approximately $2.677 billion in 2023, up from 2022 when it totalled around $2.515 billion.

The UAE ranked second, with exports recording around $2.213 billion in 2023, up from $1.955 billion in 2022.

Then comes Libya, which marked $1.824 billion worth of exports in 2023, up from $1.214 billion in 2022.

The fourth place went to Sudan, which recorded $984.449 million in 2023, a small increase from 2022 when it recorded $954.268 million.

Algeria came in fifth place, to which Egypt exported at a value of $850.336 million in 2023, up from $718.030 million in 2022.

Regarding exports on a global level, the first place went to Turkey, with exports valued at $3.768 billion in 2023. However, this implied a decrease from 2022 when exports were valued at $3.959 billion.

Nevertheless, this still marks a huge rise from 2021 when exports recorded $2.990 billion.

Italy came second, with Egyptian exports totalling $3.140 billion in 2023, down from $3.382 billion in 2022.

The United States fell in third place, with exports reaching $1.951 billion in 2023, down from $2.300 billion and $2.542 billion in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

Spain occupied the fourth rank, with Egyptian exports recording $1.764 billion in 2023, a huge drop from 2022 when it recorded $3.850 billion.

The fifth and final rank went to India, with exports making up $1.175 billion in 2023, down from $2.016 billion in 2022.

Egypt experienced a decline in exports during July/March of FY2023/2024, per Egypt’s overall balance of payments issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) in August. At that time, merchandise exports decreased by 22.3 percent to $24.1 billion, while oil exports decreased to $4.6 billion.
