Egypt agricultural exports rise 7% to reach $3.6 bln

Egypt's agricultural exports rose 7% from the beginning of the year till 4 September to reach $3.6 billion, a growth of more than $800 million compared to the same period in 2023, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement, citing a report showcasing the sector’s figures, added that total agricultural exports exceeded 6.1 million, hitting a growth of more than 400 thousand tons.

The report listed the exported agricultural products, ranked by quantity from the highest. The top three were citrus at two million tons, potatoes exceeding 962 thousand tons, and onions exceeding 215 thousand tons.

Egypt’s agricultural exports jumped to $2.9 billion in the first half (1H) of 2024, a growth of $600 million compared to the corresponding months of 2023.

Exports included two million tons of citrus, 950 thousand tons of potatoes, and 412 thousand tons of onions in 2023.
