El-Sisi issues decree appointing Central Bank of Egypt board for 1 year

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decree appointing the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) board of directors, chaired by Hassan Abdullah, acting governor of CBE, for one year, effective 27 November.

According to the presidential decree issued in the official gazette, the board is made of Rami Ahmed Adel Abul Naga, deputy governor of CBE; Tarek Mohamed Badawi El-Khouly, deputy governor of CBE; and Mohamed Farid Saleh, acting chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority.

It also includes Ali Mohamed Ali Farmawi, technology expert; Naglaa Anwar El-Ahwany, economic expert; Sherif Hussein Kamel Mohamed, financial expert; Mohamed Othman Ibrahim El-Deep, banking expert; Samiha El-Sayed Fawzy, economic expert; Essam Mohamed Abdel Hadi Amer, accounting and financial expert; and Khaled Ibrahim Sakr, economic expert.

Earlier in August, El-Sisi issued a decree to renew Hassan Abdallah’s tenure as the Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) acting governor for a third term.

Abdallah was appointed as the CBE's acting governor on 18 August 2022.
