El-Wazir made these remarks during a meeting with Rania Al-Mashat, the minister of planning, economic development, and international cooperation.
The meeting aimed to follow up on the national industrial development strategy and integration mechanisms, as well as the efforts made by the World Bank in coordination with national entities to establish mechanisms to support the sector.
The strategy targets creating seven to eight million job opportunities, enhancing the green economy's contribution to five percent of the GDP, and providing technical support to small factories to integrate them into the formal economy.
During the meeting, Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of robust infrastructure, noting that significant projects in transport and logistics have been implemented since 2014 to support various sectors, including industry.
According to the statement, key objectives of the strategy include immediately reactivating closed factories, boosting exports, particularly in industries utilizing local raw materials, and improving the quality of Egyptian products for both local and international markets.
Moreover, the strategy focuses on enhancing workforce skills through training initiatives and adapting to modern industrial trends, including digital and green transformation.
Meanwhile, El-Wazir indicated that the plan is based on several foundations, the most important of which is collaboration with the private sector as a primary partner in industrial activities, given the sector's essential role in industrial development.
