Egypt banks, bourse to close Sunday for October War anniversary

Egypt's banks and stock exchange will remain closed next Sunday to mark the anniversary of beginning of the nation's 1973 October War against Israel.

A Monday statement from the Central Bank of Egypt announced the holiday, which falls at the end of the weekend and means a three-day closure for the country's financial institutions.
 
The previous day, 6 October, is a national holiday in Egypt.
