In February 2025, remittances more than doubled for the 12th consecutive month, hitting $3.0 billion, up from around $1.3 billion in February 2024.

According to the CBE, this marks the highest remittance inflow recorded for the month of February in any previous year.

CBE said in April that remittances from Egyptians abroad soared by 81 percent in the first seven months of the current FY2024/2025 (July 2024 to January 2025), climbing to around $20 billion, compared to $11 billion during the same period a year earlier.

Egypt placed sixth among the world’s remittance recipient countries in 2023.

The number of Egyptian expatriates hit 11.09 million by the end of 2023, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
