US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg
Garg made her remarks at Sunday's opening session of the US-Egypt Policy Leaders Forum in Cairo.
More than 55 US investors are participating in the two-day forum, held under President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's auspices.
The forum, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) in partnership with the United States Chamber of Commerce, the US-Egypt Business Council, and the Egypt-US Business Council.
Garg said the anticipated customs deal would represent a “significant milestone” in unlocking new opportunities for American companies and fostering greater trade transparency and cooperation.
"The (Egyptian) government has taken bold steps to remove long-standing non-tariff market barriers to American exports. This represents a significant win for both our countries, for our companies, and for our people." she added.
The announcement comes amid renewed confidence in the country's economic potential, underscored by recent visits by US business delegations and growing investment interest in sectors such as artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, and telecommunications.
Garg noted that Egypt rapidly emerges as a regional hub for innovation and secure digital infrastructure.
The ambassador cited the success of Egypt’s version of Shark Tank—the top performer globally among 54 countries—and the upcoming launch of the world’s first Shark Tank-branded business park in Cairo.
She also praised Egypt’s “economic dream team” led by Prime Minister Madbouly, praising the government’s commitment to structural reform, investor confidence, and fair market access.
“We are moving to even stronger relationships,” Garg asserted.
"Hope and confidence are the two most important words when we talk about commercial and economic ties."
“With new agreements on the horizon and trade barriers falling, both countries expressed optimism that a new chapter in US- Egypt trade relations has begun, one built on trust, shared growth, and sustained economic ambition," Garg added.
