Kamal Moulay, Head of the Algerian Economic Reform Council speaks during the Egyptian-Algerian Business Forum.
Moulay pointed out that the strong Algerian presence at the forum reflects a shared determination to deepen both diplomatic and economic cooperation, for the benefit of citizens in both countries.
He added that under the African Continental Free Trade Area, products can already be traded with preferential advantages. “Yet, given our historical ties and capabilities, there is potential to expand economic cooperation even further,” he said.
The forum was held in Egypt’s New Capital on the sidelines of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee, co-chaired by Algeria’s Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib and Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
The event brought together ministers and senior officials from both nations, heads of relevant agencies, representatives from the private sector, and development partners.
In his address, Moulay highlighted the reforms initiated by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, noting a marked improvement in the country’s investment climate.
He underlined the support of the Algerian Economic Reform Council for joint production through industrial partnerships designed to enhance competitiveness, share risks, access new markets, and facilitate the transfer of technology and expertise.
“We have developed significant advantages that some major foreign companies have already leveraged to enter joint production projects with us,” he said. “Additionally, Algeria’s strategic location—at the crossroads of Africa and Europe—supports economic and logistical exchanges, allowing us to produce and export together.”
Moulay also identified priority sectors for Egyptian companies in Algeria, including energy, public works, infrastructure, fertilizers, and food industries, while emphasizing that other value-added areas remain open for collaboration.
He reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to supporting Egyptian companies wishing to engage with local partners and described the Egyptian-Algerian Business Council as a vital platform for fostering cooperation. He noted that upcoming bilateral events will further broaden opportunities for commercial and economic partnerships and concluded by wishing continued success to the Egyptian-Algerian collaboration.
