Hungary could be the latest country to supply Egypt, the world's largest Wheat importer, with grain necessary to feed the 80-million-plus population

Egypt, the world's biggest wheat importer, is considering adding Hungary to the list of countries from which it buys the grain, the country's main state wheat buyer said on Wednesday.

"Part of the future plan is to try as much as possible to find some other (wheat) sources such as Romania and we are considering Hungary to be added to the Black Sea region (origins)," said Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities.

"We know that some countries do not have huge export potential but they can add to what is being offered," Nomani said. He was addressing a grains conference in Egypt's Red Sea Resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
