CBE declares Thursday 7 off to banks for Labour Day celebration
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that all banks operating in the domestic market will suspend work on Thursday, 7 May 2026, in observance of Labour Day, according to a statement by the bank on Tuesday.
Banking services are set to resume, and branches will reopen to customers starting Sunday morning, 10 May 2026, the CBE said in a statement, with normal operations restored.
On Wednesday, the Egyptian government announced that 7 May would be an official paid holiday in observance of Labour Day
