Repairs continue on pipeline to Israel, Jordan

Egyptian gas supplies to East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) and its clients in Israel are expected to resume by 4 March, Ampal-American Israel Corp (AMPAL) said on Sunday.

AMPAL, which has a 12.5 per cent interest in EMG, said the Egyptian National Gas Company said repair works on a pipeline, damaged in an explosion and subsequent fire earlier this month, were continuing.

The repair work and resumption of gas supplies was previously expected around 17 February.

Egyptian state television and local government officials reported on 5 February that saboteurs blew up a pipeline that runs through Egypt's North Sinai, disrupting flows to Israel and Jordan.
