Egypt's Alcotexa cotton exports increasing

Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 153 tonnes of cotton in the week that ended on 12 March, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.

The sales comprised 150 tonnes of the Giza 88 variety and 3 tonnes of Giza 86.

Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 110,021 tonnes of cotton worth $448.89 million, the official added.

By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 62,011 tonnes of cotton worth $140.9 million.
