A number of Bahraini banks affected by sit-ins in the capital Manama have been forced to cease operations, preventing banking transactions. “The employees couldn’t reach their offices and also their money,” confirmed Abd Al-Kareem Boujery, chairman of the Bahraini Banker’s Association, told journalists.
“Because of strikes and demonstrations, Bahrain’s central bank had problems trying to deliver funds to various bank branches,” he added.
Boujery explained that the main branches were reopened over the last two days, while other branches distant from the centres of unrest have remained opened.
