According to Al-Ahram, security forces were worried clashes might errupt between supporters of the new and dismissed heads.
Abdel Fattah Ibrahim, the new workers’ representative, is the current head of the Textile Trade Union. He headed to the ETUF’s headquarters amidst demonstrations led by his supporters.
The dismissed head, Gebali El-Maraghi, who leads the General Trade Union of Land Transport, has rejected the reshuffle of positions, which was ratified on Saturday by the Minister of Manpower Kamal Abu Eita.
