Shareholder statement from Egypt's main steel producer reveals some surprising names

Ezz Steel has revealed that Anas Al-Fequi, the country's former minister of information has 3,160 shares in the company.

The company revealed in a statement to stock market administors that many businessmen under investigation by the prosecutor-general issued own shares in Egypt's leading steel producer.

According to the statement, Yassine Mansour, ex-chairman of Palm Hills Development and the brother of former minister Ahmed Mansour, owns 4,305 shares. Ahmed Bahgat, owner of an appliances and television company, owns 3,680 shares.

Ezz Steel chairman Ahmed Ezz himself owns 3,027 shares while his second wife Khadiga Ahmed Kamel owns 30,000.

Another investor, Shehab Mazhar Ahmed Hafez, owns 10,000 shares.
