Tax rate announced for Egyptian YouTubers, bloggers

The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) announced on Monday the tax rates that will imposed on all activities related to e-commerce and online content creation, including for bloggers and YouTubers.

On 25 September, the ETA announced that YouTubers and bloggers must register their income with the Authority.

The move aims to integrate the informal economy into the formal one as well as track all transactions conducted through online platforms.

The new tax rates

Those whose net income is under EGP 15,000 are exempted from paying taxes.

Income ranging from EGP 15,000 to EGP 30,000 will be taxed 2.5 percent; EGP 30,000 to EGP 45,000 will be taxed 10 percent; EGP 45,000 to EGP 60,000 will be taxed 15 percent; EGP 60,000 to EGP 200,000 will be taxed 20 percent; EGP 200,000 to EGP 400,0000 will be taxed 22.5 percent; and income that surpasses EGP 400,0000 will be taxed 25 percent.
