The 12th edition of the annual employment fair was held on 10 October with the aim of connecting qualified students and graduates with job opportunities in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Participating companies offered 200 data-related jobs during the fair, El-Zaher said on the sidelines of the fair.

With 180 available jobs, mobile application development, and various programming languages jobs came second.

This year’s edition of the fair featured the participation of 49 IT companies, 34 of which were multinational while the rest were Egyptian.

“More than 4,000 job seekers in the IT sector registered at the fair, while the number of job applications submitted by them reached 15,231,” the statement added.

Of the total job opportunities presented, 73 percent were for junior employees, while 27 percent were for seniors.

ITIDA signed a number of memorandums of understanding (MOUs), most recently with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to jointly develop the country's IT sector in August.

In July, the agency and the UN Development Programme kickstarted a five-year project to accelerate digital innovation and growth of the country's tech-driven startup ecosystem.
