IKARUS also inked a cooperation agreement with the UAE-based company Quikr EV to exchange expertise in charging solutions.
The EVs Electrify Egypt Summit was held on 10-12 October, under the auspices of the Egyptian cabinet alongside the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the General Organization for Export and Import Control, the National Authority for Management and Investment, and the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA).
Several strategic partners from the public sector have sponsored the summit. These include EgyptAir, the official airline of the summit and the exclusive sponsor of the business lounge; KADER Factory for Advanced Industries (AOI); Suez Canal Bank; the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate; the United Nations, AIESEC, and IEEE.
Partnerships were also established with the private sector to sponsor the summit through a wide range of institutions and companies from various sectors. These include Delta, TeleWind, AlienZ, Shift EV, Help, X Shore, OLA Energy, IKARUS Electric, Dayun, ZeroCarbon, Evolve, MATGR, Spark EV, Appraid EV, and Quickr, the official mobility service provider for the summit.
The summit discussed various topics related to the future of sustainable mobility in Egypt and the region, in addition to meetings on cybersecurity and data privacy in connected electric vehicles.
Moreover, it highlighted several key points such as the importance of enhancing infrastructure by investing in charging stations, executing feasibility studies for electric transportation projects, and conducting clear policies that promote transferring to electric vehicles.
The three-day summit witnessed contributing companies such as MATGR and Glide offering exclusive discounts to visitors and Contact offering instalment payment plans, which drove 80 percent of the cars at the event to be sold.
During the summit, the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate held the Future of the Intelligent Transportation Industry Conference, organized by the Communications, Information Technology, and Digital Transformation Committee.
The committee highlighted important recommendations, including establishing a committee that includes companies, members of the parliament, and related ministries to tackle the challenges of digital transformation and encourage investment in digital infrastructure like 5G networks and smart sensor systems.
"The outstanding success of the summit in its first edition is reflected by attracting 70,000 visitors and bringing together a distinguished group of experts, decision-makers, and stakeholders from around the world under one roof to discuss the latest developments in this field,” stated Mohamed Elsaidy, president of EVs Electrify Egypt Summit and chairman of the organizing alliance consisting of Tritech Advanced Solutions and Brandit Cairo.
