Egypt's Alcotexa sells 515 T cotton in past week

Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 515 tonnes of cotton in the week that ended on January 1, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.

The sales comprised 259 tonnes of the Giza 88 variety, 22 tonnes of Giza 90 and 234 tonnes of Giza 86, the official said.

Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 89,870 tonnes of cotton worth $334.966 million, the official added.

By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 50,700 tonnes of cotton worth $112.24 million.
