Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 526 tons of cotton in the week that ended 8 January, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.
The sales comprise 334 tonnes of the Giza 88 variety and 192 tonnes of Giza 86, the official said.
Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2010-11 season, which began in September, are now 90,396 tonnes of cotton worth $338.04 million, the official added.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 51,155 tonnes of cotton worth $113.2 million.
