Egypt’s food industries exports grow by 2.4 percent in 1st half of 2022

Egypt's exports of food industries grew by $51 million - 2.4 percent year on year during the first half of 2022, according to the monthly report of the Food Export Council (FEC) that was issued on Tuesday.

The value of the food industries' exports registered $2.169 billion in the first half of 2022, compared with $2.118 billion in the same period last year.

Exports registered $307 million in January 2022, a 15 percent growth compared to the same month last year.

In February of 2022, exports reached $340 million, a 0.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Exports to the Arab markets amounted to $1 billion in the first half of 2022, representing 50 percent of total food industries exports, according to the report.

Meanwhile, the European Union came second in the list, receiving $427 million in Egyptian food industries' exports, or 20 percent of the total.

Finally, the food industries' exports to the US increased by 31 percent in the same period to reach $144 million, or 7 percent of the total.
