As part of the AFM, Samir also opened ProPak MENA 2023, Africa's most comprehensive event for processing and packaging in the food and beverage industry. The event was held at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre.
Over 300 companies from 33 countries are participating in the two events, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, South Africa, Oman, Indonesia, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, the ministry said in a statement.
Egyptian companies account for about 25 percent of the participants, the minister said.
The two events are hosting various workshops that bring together experts from the food and beverage industry.
The exhibition aims to create new trade and investment opportunities for exhibitors and companies. Samir expects the events to attract around 9,000 food and beverage industry professionals and workers.
Samir stressed that the two events will provide a platform for exploring and sharing innovations and solutions in food ingredients, packaging and processing across the MENA region.
The AFM is the most comprehensive food and beverage exhibition in the region and aspires to become a major trading hub for the industry.
