In May 2023, an international commission, made up of about two dozen architects and specifiers, was in Portugal at the invitation of ANIET - National Association of Extractive and Transforming Industry, within the scope of the project "Pedra Portuguesa, O Natural Caminho” - Sistema Support for Collective Actions - Co-financed by Compete 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Regional Development Fund.

The main objective of this promotional action for international specifiers, inside and outside Europe, is to make international guests aware of the reality and export potential of the Portuguese Natural Stone sector, as well as to provide on-site visits to different companies representing the extraction sector. and transformation of Portuguese Natural Stone.

According to Jorge Mira Amaral, President of ANIET, "(...) it is difficult to find a place in Europe, or in the world, that does not have the presence of Portuguese natural stone. It is essential to mention that, despite its small size, Portugal occupies , among the main producers and exporters of natural stone for ornamental purposes, 7th worldwide and 3rd in Europe".

This delegation's visit to Portugal follows on from a wide range of actions carried out over the last two years by ANIET, always with the aim of promoting the Portuguese Natural Stone sector in the various geographies of the globe, such as promotional actions carried out in strategic markets for the sector, such as the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Germany, Finland, among others.

This initiative will culminate in the 3rd edition of the International Natural Stone Conference, which took place in Porto Casa da Musica.
