Market watch: EGX’s main index gains 700 points on Monday; gold prices rise

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rebounded on Monday after the mixed performance yesterday. The main index gained around 700 points.

Gold prices also increased and the 24-carat surpassed EGP 3,223 per gram.

Stock market
 

The EGX30 index surged 2.82 percent, settling at 25,265 points.

Meanwhile, the SMEs index EGX70 rose by 1.51 percent to 5,385 points.

The EGX100 index increased by 2 percent to close at 7,840 points.

The market capitalization gained nearly EGP 39 billion, ending at around EGP 1,705 billion.

Arab Aluminum was the biggest winner in the market, surging by 19.94 percent to close at EGP 12.27 per share.

The greatest loser in the market was Alexandria New Medical Center, whose stock fell 20 percent to reach EGP 58.80 per share.

Gold purchase prices
 

The purchase price of 24-carat gold rose by EGP 29 to EGP 3,223 per gram on Monday, compared to Sunday.

The 21-carat gold price increased by EGP 25 for purchase, recording EGP 2,820 per gram.

The 18-carat gold price went up EGP 21 to register EGP 2,417 per gram.

The price of the gold pound coin rose by EGP 200 to hit EGP 22,560 for purchase.

Currencies
 

With a buy rate of EGP 30.8249 and a sell rate of EGP 30.9557, the official EGP/USD exchange rate remains stable.

The euro is valued at EGP 33.4943 for purchase and EGP 33.6489 for sale.

The Saudi riyal is priced at EGP 8.2169 for buying and EGP 8.2527 for selling.
