Marketwatch: Egypt bourse closes Wednesday with mixed performance

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices ended Wednesday with mixed performance and the market cap lost only EGP 1 billion.

Gold prices declined and the gold pound coin reached a value of EGP 25,360.

Stock market
 

The EGX30 index edged lower by 0.37 percent, settling at 25,408 points.

In contrast, the EGX70 index rose 0.41 percent, ending at 5,664 points and the EGX100 index grew by 0.40 percent, closing at 8,143 points.

Market cap decreased by around EGP 1 billion to end at EGP 1,752 billion.

The top performer in the market today was Taqa Arabia, which surged 19.96 percent to end at EGP 16.17.

On the other hand, the worst performer was Al Baraka Bank Egypt, which dropped 9.09 percent to close at EGP 10.70.

Gold purchase prices
 

The purchase price of 24-carat gold declined by EGP 46 to EGP 3,623 per gram on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday’s prices.

The 21-carat gold price decreased by EGP 40 to reach EGP 3,170 per gram, and the 18-carat gold price went down by EGP 34 to EGP 2,717 per gram.

The price of the gold pound reached EGP 25,360 for purchase, EGP 350 lower than yesterday.

Currencies
 

The official EGP/USD exchange rate remains stable at EGP 30.8249 for buying and EGP 30.9557 for selling.

The euro is valued at EGP 33.6546 for purchase and EGP 33.8098 for sale.

The Saudi riyal is priced at EGP 8.2191 for buying and EGP 8.2544 for selling.
