Tuesday saw a downturn for the EGX as indexes experienced declines attributed to selling pressure from local and Arab investors.

The EGX 30 benchmark index, which tracks the performance of the 30 most actively traded companies, dropped by 0.98 percent to settle at 29,057.5 points.

The all-encompassing EGX 100 index also saw a decrease of 0.59 percent, closing at 9,540.22 points.

However, this decline came only after a positive start to the week, with the EGX posting collective gains on Sunday as indexes surged, backed by purchases from Egyptian and foreign investment funds.

The market capital saw an increase of about EGP 2 billion on Monday, reaching EGP 1.941 trillion, with transactions totalling around EGP 22.9 billion.
