The second phase of a pipeline to transport gas from Turkmenistan to Iran was opened by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Turkmen counterpart  Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov today.
The opening of this second phase took place in the border city of Sarakhas in southeast Iran. It is expected that this new line will double Turkmenistan's annual export of gas to Iran, taking it to 20 billion cubic meters. The line will transfer 18 million cubic meters of gas per day.
