The minister’s comments came during his meeting with Tageldin Seif, board chairman of the UAE company KK Power International, where they discussed means to boost cooperation between the company and the Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sector.

They also looked at increasing investment opportunities in Egypt in the field of electricity, new and renewable energy, green hydrogen and green ammonia.

In his statement, Shaker lauded the deep bonds between Egypt and the UAE in addition to the strategic ties between both countries.

He also praised Egypt’s cooperation with UAE companies, saying that the UAE is a trusted partner with huge expertise in electricity projects.

He said the electricity sector has benefited from unprecedented support from Egypt’s political leadership which prioritises electric energy as a cornerstone for economic and social development.

He pointed out that providing energy for the local market is a major challenge for Egypt.

He said that several measures have been taken to encourage private sector participation in new and renewable energy projects, adding that these measures have led investors to trust in the Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sector.

He asserted that Egypt has exerted efforts to become a hub for clean energy in Africa, saying that Egypt is keen on supporting the efforts of African states in the field of clean energy.
