In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy explained that the project aims to strengthen electrical power transmission in the North Coast region, which includes El-Alamein, New El-Alamein city, Alexandria governorate and the West Delta zone.
Under the deal, Siemens will be re-equipping the El-Alamein Electrical Conversion Plant with 3-cell gas-insulated transformer type GIS turnkey system.
Meanwhile, the EETC explained that the project would be completed within 16 months with financing from the budget designated for strategic projects by the electricity ministry.
The German energy giant has upgraded Egypt’s electric power production capacities through major projects in the last eight years.
It had previously constructed the main electricity generation plant in New El-Alamein city with a total capacity of 500 kilovolts.
Siemens also established eight electricity converter stations with a total capacity of 500 kilovolts as part of the EETC's plan to strengthen the transmission of electrical power through 2025.
