During the event, which marks Gender Equality Day at the UN climate conference in the UAE, Al-Mashat discussed women’s empowerment within the Paris Climate Agreement, along with several representatives of governments and international financial institutions.

According to the ministry's official statement, Al-Mashat emphasized that women are among the groups most affected by the negative repercussions of climate change, stressing the necessity to integrate women’s empowerment into climate policies.

In her speech, the minister pointed out that Egypt launched the 'Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator' during COP27, in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the African Development Bank, and the French Development Agency.

She added that Egypt is launching a report in cooperation with these three international institutions, highlighting female participation in climate action, renewable energy, transportation, and agriculture.

Furthermore, Al-Mashat affirmed that Egypt is one of the first countries to launch a long-term women's empowerment strategy.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the minister signed a letter of intent for Egypt to join the Blue Mediterranean Partnership agreement, which offers financing opportunities for blue economy projects.

The partnership is a joint platform for countries and international financial institutions, within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean Working Group for the Blue Economy.
