امشي في جنازة ولا تمشى في جوازة
Emshi fe ganaza wa la temshi fi gawaza
Translation: It’s better to attend a funeral than arrange a marriage.
Meaning: This saying warns of the long term problems that can arise from arranging a marriage or setting two people up. Unlike a wedding, a funeral requires you to simply pay your respects and leave. But if you get involved in someone’s marriage then you may get dragged into the couple’s future conflicts.
