Thursday marked the opening of the third edition of the Arab Forum for Puppet Art and Shadow Puppets, which this year will honor Am Saber El-Masry, Egypt’s oldest Aragouz player

Thursday, 29 October, marked the opening of the Arab Forum for Puppet Art and Shadow Puppets in its third edition. The exhibition, which runs from 29 October to 4 November, is organised by Union International De la Marionette (UNIMA) Egypt in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and held in Al-Hanager Theatre on the Cairo Opera House premises.

Attending the opening was Minister of Culture Helmi El-Namnam as well as the iconic artist and puppet creator Nagi Shaker. The forum will honor this year Palestinian director Adel Al-Tarteer and Am Saber El-Masry, Egypt’s oldest Aragouz player.

The event includes workshops, seminars and puppet shows from Egypt and the Arab world. It also hosts the Egyptian Puppet Exhibition that  features aspects of Egyptian alley life through the lens of puppet theatre.
