This year, Santa and Moulid dolls come side by side.

Today is Moulid El-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammed, which means moulid candy dolls, horses, family gatherings, and moulid celebrations hug Egypt's biggest mosques with sufi chants and kids' laughter as they almost touch the sky with their colorful wooden swings. This year, the air of festivity is doubled, tinted with the green color of Christmas, which is only two days after Moulid .

Only two days apart, the birth of both prophets come together to remind the world of the core message: Love and compassion. A divine sign? Perhaps. After all, the Quran's first verse was "Read." Muslims start the Quran by reciting "in the name of God the Most Compassionate and Merciful," while Christianity is all about loving. Now, with global violence being carried out allegedly in the name of God, people need to go back to the basics and remember the essence of their religion and celebrate it.

Merry Moulid, Egypt.
