The event, the brainchild of artist Mohamed Abdella, combined visual art with live music, exploring links between sound and image.
Abdella told Ahram Online that the event marks the launch of his dream project titled Visuals in Sounds, which includes music performances accompanied by an art exhibition of his own on the same theme.
“This is how we revive tradition, like Habayebna Troupe does, reviving the repertoire of the twenties, so we started with Um Kalthoum," he explained.
The exhibition featured monochrome paintings depicting figures from the singer’s time, including musicians, poets, and concert audiences, drawing on black, white, and grey tones associated with early 20th-century aesthetics, making for a true reflection of the glamorous bygone era.
Meanwhile, the musical performance was conducted by Musician Maged Soliman, founder of the Habayebna troupe, whose members sang the night away with a variety of Um Kalthoum songs.
Songs by Vernacular poetry pillar Beiram El Tounsy, renowned poet Ahmed Ramy, as well as the music of the Sheikh of Composers, Zakaria Ahmed, in addition to Riad El Sonbati, to name a few.
