State employees strike at three polling stations ‎

Elections disrupted in three constituencies by employees protesting non-payment of their bonuses

Ahram Online, Thursday 15 Dec 2011

Three polling stations were disrupted Thursday by striking employees during the second day of the second round of Egypt's parliamentary elections. The employees halted the voting process at their stations, complaining that they have not been paid the LE1000 ($166) bonus for working through the elections.

Head of the Supreme Electoral Commission in Menoufiya, Judge Sami Eid, stepped in to end the strike, promising the employees they will receive their bonuses as soon as elections are over and the votes counted.
