Head of Egypt's Supreme Electoral Commission Abdel-Moez Ibrahim announced during a press conference Saturday evening that voter turnout during the third round of the People’s Assembly (parliament’s lower house) elections was around 62 per cent. Over 14 million people were eligible to vote in the nine governorates

There will be a run-off round for individual seats in all of the nine governorates. The Muslim Brotherhood’s political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party, who have won the most seats in the past two rounds, will contest seats in the governorates of Qalioubiya, Gharbiya, Daqahliya, Minya, Qena, New Valley (Al-Wadi Al-Gedid) and North Sinai.

Run-offs will take place on 10 and 11 January.
